The Windshield and The Bug

Have you ever heard the country song sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug? We all feel like that every day many times, at least I know I do! That was never more true than today.  I was really excited about my BlogTalk Radio show “The Journey” and my special guest was Peggy McColl, best selling author, international speaker, and someone I admire very much…… and I bombed.

The good news is, I learned so much from the experience!  I recently made the intention to only see the positive aspects of every situation, so when I began to look at them, I realized I had gained so much!  Of the many things I learned today:

Make sure you have a back up topic in case you or your guest gets disconnected.

Make sure you write the show page in text, not just copy and paste information

And that there is definitely opportunity in every experience that comes disguised as a hardship.  Today I chose to see this experience as a learning opportunity, and it also gave me an opportunity to really connect with what it means to be human in a world of experts.

On the show Peggy shared how she learned so much from Bob Proctor, who is in my life defined as one of the finest minds in the world….and after the show I was going through my personal growth library and came upon a program of his that I have, and in it ……the poem by Andrew Smith…”Rules for being Human”.  I know that nothing is by chance, I know that when I ask for guidance I get it….and sometimes it shows up just like that.  I will share with you the poem, and hope that Mr. Smith doesn’t mind, but I think he knew we all needed reminding or he wouldn’t have written it in the first place.

1. You will receive a body, you may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for this time around.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full time informal school called life.  Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons.  You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant or stupid.

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial , error and experimentation. The failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ends up working.

4. The lesson will be repeated until learned. The lesson may be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning lessons does not end. That’s rather sad to some people, but it doesn’t! There’s not one part of life that does not contain lessons if you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

6. There is no better than Here. When your There becomes Here, you will simply gain another There, that will again look better than Here.

7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You can not love or hate something about a person unless you reflect something you love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you, the choice is yours.

9. The answers lie inside you, all you need to do is look…listen…and trust.

10. You will forget this unless you practice self discipline and repetition.

WOW. The biggest lesson I am taking away from this fabulous day, is that it’s okay to be who I am.  It’s okay to make mistakes and learn as I go, and it’s okay to make the choice to do what I love, to interview interesting people who share their journey to success…..and as long as I am willing to keep showing up the Universe will continue to guide me with messages just like this…..that tells me it’s okay to be Me.
